Basil is a pure essential oil steam distilled from the whole flowering herb Ocimum basilicum, of the Lamiaceae (Labiatae) family.

Basil has a clear, light and peppery aroma that gives a sweet, green top note and contains 1% essential oil, known as the royal oil.

Basil clears the head, relieves mental fatigue, giving clarity of thought, can be helpful not only for headaches and migraines, but also has an uplifting effect on depression, help minimize uric acid in the blood, thus relieving gout. It refreshes the skin and helps control acne.

Basil oil should always be diluted with a suitable carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil before applying to the skin. It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals.
